Even though we don't have kids, there are plenty of these items around our house. We're a couple of kids at heart!
Given strong consideration for a few weeks until Mr. PaC came to the realization that, yes we like sailing, but not enough for a nautical theme to overtake our reception.
An okay idea, but I wanted to use my own photographs. And what do you choose to represent a whole city? Too much thinking/work!
Showcasing the destinations we've visited together was his idea. I was lukewarm about this one.
And then my favorite idea, ever: wine regions or varietals!
Since our centerpieces are modified wine bottles and the escort card base is a cork, it made perfect sense. But both were nixed by Mr. PaC. Why so cruel! He claimed these themes were too pretentious. I argued it made sense: we've taken two big wine trips, I have a wine blog and obvs we're really into wine. Insert big, exasperated sigh.
So the compromise became beverages of a different sort: cocktails! Every year, we seem to have a new favorite drink. A quick brainstorming session turned up a solid list of 30 pared down to our favorites:
White Russian - skiing drink, pop culture reference and favorite of several friends/relatives
Dark & Stormy - sailing drink
Orange Crush - the unofficial cocktail of Dewey Beach (and our signature cocktail)
Dirty Martini - a longtime favorite. Vodka, on the rocks please!
Woo Woo - a fruity shot that appears at Mr. PaC's family's weddings
Gin & Tonic - my grandfather's drink of choice and a more serious option
Margarita - no explanation needed
Mojito - our Summer of '09 drink
Salty Dog - another nod to sailing
Rum Runner - for the rummies among us (I'm looking at you, Mom!)
Cosmopolitan - a martini for the more, ahem, cosmopolitan guests
PiƱa Colada - one of my guilty pleasures
And the name for our sweetheart table?? Sex on the beach! (Ahahahaha, just kidding! Calm down family members.)
Now that the table names are set, the next task is grouping our guests into tidy groups of eight. Photos of the table markers are forthcoming!
Which cocktail table would you like to be seated at? Did you choose table numbers, names or forgo the whole assigned seating mess entirely?
