Lookin' Luminous

Another project has been crossed off our to-do list! This can only mean one thing -- the end is near. No, not that end. The end of wedding planning! And with every end, there is always a beginning to look forward to. Ah, but that's a post for another day. You're here to see latest project, right?

From Japan with Love

I love getting things in the mail. Do you remember how ridiculously excited I got over washi tape? Nothing could top that... except for receiving washi tape in the mail!

I chose to order my washi tape from an etsy seller in Japan. UGUiSU had the colors I needed at a great price AND I wanted to show support for the Japanese people, even if it was in a small way.

Escort me to Obsession-ville

OMG, someone restrain me! Take away my credit card or freeze it in a block of ice.

I've just added $60 of washi tape/happy tape to my etsy cart and cannot stop. It's a rush hunting down the rolls in my color palette. Bright yellows, pretty blues and greens, punchy pinks... Thinking of all the lovely color combinations and future non-wedding uses has me giddy with excitement.

Rumination on Illumination

My co-workers are starting to wonder why so many boxes have been arriving for me in the last week. It's not Christmastime. And it's not my birthday. This can only mean one thing... our DIY supplies are trickling in!

Behold, a box.

Our paper lanterns are here! To qualify for free shipping, I padded the order with some white fans to keep our guests cool in the June heat. (If it's anything like last June, we are in trouble. And I thought my cousin could reuse them for her August wedding.) When I lifted up the fans, yikes! Lime green lanterns??

Light Up the Night

Let me tell you a little known secret about Mr. PAC. Back in the day, he and his friends may have attended large urban dance parties where there may have been a few glow sticks. So as a nod to his footloose and fancy-free days, I thought it'd be a hoot to bring out the glow sticks one more time for our reception.

It's Only a Paper Moon

One of those Oriental Trading Company catalogs came in the mail this week. Before committing it to the trash can, I flipped through it - just for fun. I was surprised to find products we'd actually use, including paper lanterns. But I knew they could be found for less! A little internet sleuthing yielded some deals.

Oriental Trading - limited colors (no yellow), accordion pleat design.
18" - 4.16/ea (6 for $24.99)
10" - 1.16/ea (12 for $13.99)

Lights, camera, action! Lights... lights??

Guess what I overlooked? Yep, lighting.

My lightbulb moment came this afternoon as I was running down our list of vendors. It's an easy thing to overlook. DJs or tent companies are the usual suspects. For our reception, there is no tent company as the tent comes with the venue. Our DJ can provide uplighting or dance lighting (No thank you, we don't want Mr. P to start rave dancing. I'm looking at you Mr. P!). But what about overhead lighting?

It's not like I haven't thought about what we'd like. Here's some of my inspiration images for inside our tent.

Love the cluster of lanterns:

Mix in some color and texture (you know me). Group them on the ground.
