It's party time!

Our annual NYE party is just around the corner. As such, I've convinced myself I need a new cocktail dress. One with sequins. Because sequins are festive!

Here are a few gowns (under $250 please) worthy of co-hosting duties:

Fun color, chunky sequins - source

Safe, maybe a little young looking? source

Split sleeve sexiness

My favorite, a one-shoulder Tahari dress with a flourish

Reading the reviews, I'm reminded that while sequins are festive, they can also be itchy, scratchy and downright uncomfortable. Bad new for a Princess and the Pea like me. (Anyone else?) Switching gears, here are some lovelies in metallic fabrics that give the sequin look without the "exfoliating" properties of sequins.

Metallic thread mixed with tweed in a 50's silhouette
(and the only one over $250)

Pseudo-sequin

Soft silk metallic

(Still, none I like as much as the scratchy Tahari... "Scratchy is no fun to touch" is Brian's assessment.)

Which one is your favorite? What will you wear to ring in the new year?

  1. I love the Metallic Thread...but I love 1950's style dresses. We aren't doing anything for new years. I'm past the bar scene. Will probably go downtown for the fireworks and street vendors.
